Fees: Pool memberships valid through June 30, 2007 - Residents Of HK Only! New tags will be available from June 2008 - June 2009.

Family Pass: $65 (1/2 price fee of $30, starting in January)
Individual Pass: $32.50 (1/2 price of $15, starting in January)
Daily Admission: $4
Seniors: 60 & over are admitted free of charge
Non-Residents may purchase an Individual Pass for $50 (1/2 price in January) which must be purchased at the HK Recreation Office.


Pool Rules
1. Lifeguards have the authority to restrict inexperienced swimmers to the shallow end of the pool. Swimmers under the age of 6 are not allowed to swim without an adult.
2. No horseplay. No running on the deck. No pushing, no dunking or obscene actions in the pool. No hanging on the lap lanes.
3. No diving at the shallow end!
4. No glass bottles, food, or chewing gum allowed in area.
5. Non-swimmers must sit in the observation area.
6. No flotation devices of any kind allowed (only our bubbles can be used with a parent in the water).
7. Swimmers must take a warm, soap shower before entering the pool.
8. Only cotton, synthetic fiber swim suits allowed. (No “cut offs”, boxer shorts, etc.).
9. Patrons are not allowed to throw balls in the pool. They will be allowed to play ball in the corner of the pool where the basketball hoop is or catch a ball off the diving board. Please be mindful of other swimmers in the area. Thank you.

Diving Board Rules:
1. No running on the board.
2. One person allowed on the board at a time.
3. Make sure the area in front of the board is cleared before the next person jumps or dives.
4. No dangerous dives. Only forward dives allowed. No reverse dives, inward dives, or flips.
5. No big bounces.
6. The fulcrum should be moved up all the way (towards the pool).

HK High School Fieldhouse (mid-October - mid-April)

Fieldhouse will be open for drop-in beginning October 1, 2007. The FH will be closed for the season starting April 13th.

Rollerskating Trip - November 6, 2007

Fall 2007: The Haddam-Killingworth Recreation Department is offering a trip to Ron-a-Roll in Vernon for students in grades 2-6 on Tuesday, November 6th (no school). The fee is $25 per trip which includes skate rental, 1 slice of pizza, a soda, and transportation. A snack bar is provided at the rink for additional purchases. No food may be brought into the rink. If your child needs childcare before or after the trip, there is childcare available. A separate flyer will be going out to the schools. The bus will leave at 12:15 pm from the HK High School and will return to the High School at 4:00 pm.

Note: Skaters may bring their own rollerblades, but they must have protective caps on the wheel axels and be approved by Ron-a-Roll management. There is no fee difference if children bring their own skates.

Students should bring their permission slip and money to the main office of their school in a sealed envelope labeled "HK Rec."

Registration will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. There will be no refunds if a child does not attend, unless the HK Rec. Dept. is notified 48 hours prior to the trip.

There will be $5 late pick-up fee for any child who is picked up after 4:00 pm. For more info., please call 345-8334.

14th Annual CRPA HOTSHOT CONTEST (2008)

WHEN: Sunday, January 13th (snow date Jan. 20th)

TIMES: 11:30 - 12:45 pm (Boys 9-10 & Girls 9-10); 1:00 - 2:00 pm (Boys 11-12, 13-15 & Girls 11-12, 13-15)

WHERE: HK High School Field House

FEE: $5 if you pre-register. There will be a $5 late fee if you register at the door. Please pre-register!

WHAT: This recreational program is designed to promote basketball enthusiasm as much as basketball skill, fun, physical fitness, friendship and good sportsmanship. Each player will have one minute to shoot from “hotspots” placed on one half of the court. Starting at the center of the half-court line, the player dribbles into shooting range. The contest challenges a player’s speed, shooting, dribbling, and rebounding ability. Three one minute rounds constitute the duration of play for each player.

The top scorer in each division will advance to the County level in East Haddam (1/19 or 1/26). Winners will then advance to the State contest in East Hampton on February 9th at 3 pm (snow date 2/10).

* The CRPA Hotshot Contest is co-sponsored by the Connecticut Recreation and Parks Association (CRPA), Mr. Trophy, & the Newington Parks and Recreation Department.

Six Flags New England and Lake Compounce Tickets available until September 1st. Buy them early and use them later in the fall!

The HK Recreation Department has discounted tickets. Avoid waiting in long lines by purchasing tickets in advance at our office. What a great deal! Fun for the entire family! Tickets are good any day of the season - but please check with the parks to find out the dates they are open to the public!

Picnic Kits

The HK Recreation Department will assembe picnic kits for residents. Kits may include portable volleyball net, volleyball, softball equipment, pillo polo, drink coolers, whiffle ball equipment, etc. Kits are free, but a $15 refundable deposit is required.
