Please remember you must register for the HK RecCare Before and After-School Processing (one time fee) in addition to the full-time or part-time dates.  This is where the on-line forms are found.

 

 

How to register for HK RecCare:

On our website, www.hkrec.com, you can pay the annual processing fee of $20 and complete all forms.  Health records for any new students or 6th graders are required.

Enrollment/General Information

* Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Grade Intermediate and Middle School Students will bused to the After School Program of your choice *

The Program provides care for children in Kindergarten through 6th grades. The program is designed to accommodate any children who are physically handicapped, providing they normally ride school buses.

Before School operates M-F 7:30 – 8:45 am.  After-School operates M-F 3:25 – 6:00 pm (KES & BES). On scheduled 1/2 days of school, the afternoon program begins at 1:05 PM and ends at 6:00 pm. Children may be registered to attend the afternoon sessions on a full-time basis. A special vacation child care program may be offered on most school holidays and vacations (Veteran’s Day, President’s Day Break and April Vacations). The program does not meet on days when school is delayed, canceled or dismissed early due to weather or other circumstances.

The program curriculum is realistic and diversified. The types of activities offered include: arts and crafts, games, free play (indoor and outdoor), homework assistance and special rainy day activities.  The curriculum strives to meet the varying needs of the different children and their respective ages.

Registration is restricted to those children attending District #17 Elementary Schools.

*** Food and Allergy Policy*** 

The fee structure is as follows:

Full-time: Fees are calculated each month, based on the number of school days. For Before School (only the full-time option), the fee would be $130 per month per child based on 20 days of school.  For After-School, if you register full-time, the fee would be $330 per month per child based on 20 days of school.

Part-time:  $19 per regular school day / $38 per minimum day of school for each child for After-School only.

Payment notices will be available on RecDesk each month.

There is a late pickup fee of $1.00 per minute (6:00-6:15) and .50 cents per minute thereafter, paid directly to the staff on the day of late pickup.

There is an annual processing/registration fee of $20 per child. You must complete the required forms in the Registration Packet.

2023 April Vacation Camp

 

The HK Recreation Department will be offering a vacation program during April break at the Burr Elementary School. The vacation program will provide care for children in Kindergarten through Grade 6.

We will be open all days of school vacation April 18 – 22. The program will begin at 8:00 AM and will end at 4:30 PM.

The program’s activities are both active and passive in nature. Types of activities offered include: Arts & Crafts, Sports/Games, Free Play, and Special Themed Days/Activities.

Schedule of activities:

  • Friday, 4/7: Futuristic Fridayre-cycled robots, spaceship creations, alien juice, rocket fruit kabobs are all on the agenda for a fun-filled Friday.
  • Monday 4/10: Messy Mondayfluffy slime, rainbow soap foam bubbles, messy food challenges, & more! Dress appropriately for some good messy fun!
  • Tuesday 4/11: Tuesday Trekkersgo from the safari to the jungle to the rain forest with themed projects and activities. Be prepared to go on a hike for a fun adventure!
  • Wednesday 4/12: Wildcard Wednesdaycamper’s choice on games and crafts plus counselor’s choice…anything goes today as there will be a wide variety to choose from!
  • Thursday 4/13: Thursday Thinkers puzzles, invent-a-game, brain teasers, decipher secret messages, i-spy, escape room game. Kids will have to do some thinking today but all in good fun!
  • Friday 4/14: Fantasy Fridaymagic potions, pipe cleaner dragons, fairy garden and more are in store for some fantasy and mystical fun!

 

Daily Full-Time (8:00 – 4:30 pm)
You may register your child for individual days. The fee is $50 per day ($52 for non-residents)

All Inclusive (M-F, 8:00 – 4:30)
If you register your child all week, the fees are $270 ($282 for non-residents)

Late Fee: There is a late pick-up fee of $5 for every 5 minutes a parent is late past 4:30 PM, paid directly to the program staff on the day of late pick-up.

What to bring: Children should bring a bag lunch daily, 2 snacks and water bottle. Children should wear sneakers and dress for active play.

HK RecCare Summer Camp

MondayFriday, June 27th – August 12th (No 7/4) at the HK HS Complex.  Camp will be mainly outdoors (we will have use of space inside for inclement weather).
There are 7 weekly sessions with 4 options:

  • CAMP ONLY (9:00 – 3:30 pm)
  • EXTENDED AM (7:30 – 3:30 pm)
  • EXTENDED PM (9:00 – 5:00 pm)
  • FULL-DAY CAMP (7:30 – 5:00 pm)

The program meets rain or shine. Activities include: sports, games, arts & crafts, field trips, on-site entertainment, special events, wacky Wednesdays, ice cream truck, & weekly themes.  Please send your child with a water bottle, lunch and snacks.

There are no daily sign-ups.  Non-Residents may register for an additional fee! Register early as space will be limited.

Camp Discovery is for kids entering Grades 1 & 2.
Camp Adventure is for kids entering Grades 3 & 4.
Camp Explorers is for kids entering Grades 5, 6, 7, 8.

Pick-up and Drop-off Location for all camps is from 7:30 – 9:15 am and 3:15 – 5:00 pm in the cafeteria lobby.



COVID-19 Safety Protocols

1.  If your child has shown any symptoms or has been around anyone who has shown symptoms, please do not send them to camp.
Symptoms may include:

    • Fever or chills
    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Fatigue
    • Muscle or body aches
    • Headache
    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Sore throat
    • Congestion or runny nose
    • Nausea or vomiting
    • Diarrhea
  1. Masks are optional.
  2. All areas will be cleaned and disinfected each day.
  3. Good hygiene will be reinforced to staff and children with regular hand washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds throughout the day.
  4. There will be a designated “sick area” if any child comes down with COVID-19 symptoms while at camp and that child must be picked up ASAP.

FEES:

Due to minimum wage increase…we have had to raise the fees.

Non-Residents: Please add $10.00 per week per child.  There is a $25 late fee if registering after the Wednesday preceding the week you want to attend
and $35 late fee if registering the 1st day of camp.  There will be no refunds 72 business hours before camp begins.

Option 1: Camp Only (9:00-3:30 pm)

  • $150 per week
  • *Pro-Rated: 7/5 – 7/8 is $120

Option 2: Extended AM or Extended PM (7:30 am – 3:30 pm or 9:00 am – 5:00 pm)

  • $190 per week
